Summary of 2005 Event

The 6th Wild Girls on Snow was held in Klosters from 6th - 9th March 2005 and with a successful auction over CHF 21,000 was raised for the Zentrum für brandverletzte Kinder, Universitätskinderspital, Zurich and the Burned Children's Club in the UK. The event opened with a demonstration of Arena Polo on Snow at night held for the first time in Klosters. Jack Kidd had organised two teams from the UK/Argentina and the fast and highly competitive chukkas on snow under floodlights made for exhilarating viewing.

After the Polo we went back to the Hotel Alpina for a delicious dinner and the opportunity for the teams to plan their routes for the Wild Girls Ski Marathon the following day. The challenge of the Marathon was not only to see how many kilometers could be skied in one day on the Parsenn, but also to see how many extra kilometers could be added to your score by the size of restaurant bills and donations collected for the charity! Judging by the results, many expensive lunches were enjoyed on the mountain... Some teams took no time out for lunch and the winning team (all male!)skied an impressive 64.9km in the allocated time. Dinner and prize giving was held in the welcoming Hotel Silvretta with a show by magician Marcel Grether.

On Tuesday the teams and ski racers met on Madrisa for a challenging race on the perfectly groomed FIS piste - despite the fog everyone completed two runs trying to get their times as close as possible and over ten people achieved a gap of less than one second! A welcoming lunch in the Bergrestaurant Saaseralp followed and the event ended with a sumptuous dinner at the Hotel Vereina followed by prize giving and an auction. Ralph Kruger conducted a brilliant auction selling pictures especially painted (with the help of artist Duscan Sekela) by children affected by burns. Other items bid for included lunch at the Hotel Walserhof, dinner for four at Mosimann's Club, London and a summer stay at the Hotel Alpina.
